TRAINING undergraduate training: Penn State University and Jefferson Medical College, PHILADELPHIA, PA. postgraduate training: Walter Reed in Washington, D.C. and the Texas Heart Institute and Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. EXPERIENCE After 13 years SERVING in the U.S. Army, including positions on the teaching staff at Walter Reed, Chief of Medicine at a large support hospital in Japan during the Vietnam conflict and Cardiology Consultant to the Chief Surgeon in Europe (Landstuhl, Germany), DR. DAWSON joined Cardiology Associates of West Reading, where he practiced for 25 years before he and his wife Judith came to Lewes, DE. DR. DAWSON was an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine while teaching on the staff at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He spent 30 years caring for children and adults with congenital heart disease as well as general cardiology. He has expertise in echocardiography and nuclear stress testing. Dr “Jack” has also volunteered with Delaware Hospice during a temporary period of retirement. He participated in the Camp New Hope bereavement program for children that have lost a close family member for the past 7 years. He has been active with Lewes/Rehoboth Rotary Club and Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. He and his wife Judith raised 6 children and have 9 grandchildren. DR. DAWSON IS AN ACTIVE STAFF MEMBER OF THE DEPARTMENT OF CARDIOLOGY AT Beebe Medical Center. awards the Charles T. Mears Humanitarian Award from the American Heart Association, Pennsylvania Affiliate in 1986 for his “outstanding efforts to prevent smoking in young people.” DR. DAWSON was first chosen in “The Best Doctors in America” by Woodward & White, INC. IN 1998-1999 |
