Beebe Honors Two
Cardiologists for Their 28 Years of Committed Service |
Beebe Medical Center has honored
Dr. Habib Bolourchi and Dr. Pravin O. Gohel, two cardiologists on the
medical staff, for their 28 years of committed service to their
patients, to the Beebe Medical Center, and to the community.
With your involvement and leadership, Beebe Medical Center has grown
from a cardiology department with no cardiac rehab program to a
department with the first accredited cardiac rehab program in the
state of Delaware the written proclamation stated, referencing Beebe's move towards a full-service cardiology program that is about
to initiate cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology.
The proclamation went on to say that "Over the years, you have
donated many hours of your time to help the cardiology service grow,
as well as provide the best possible care to our patients. On our behalf, please accept this
'heart felt' thank you for
everything you have done over the past 28 years to make Beebe Medical Center's Cardiology program the success that it is. We look forward to
many more years of service together in the care of our cardiac
patients."
Beebe Medical Center President and CEO Jeffrey M. Fried presented the
proclamation and accompanying award to each physician during the
Medical Center's recent Cardiovascular Strategic Planning Meeting. He
and Beebe Medical Center Board Chairwoman Janet B. McCarty had signed
the proclamations.
Dr. Gohel is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular
Diseases. Dr. Bolourchi is Board certified in Internal Medicine,
Cardiovascular Diseases and Nuclear Cardiology.
These awards come at a time when the Beebe Medical Center is expanding
its cardiovascular program. In 2006, Beebe Medical Center's heart
services will grow to include interventional procedures such as
angioplasties and stent placements to clear clogged arteries, as well
as open-heart valve repairs and coronary artery bypass grafts. The
Cardiac Rehabilitation Department already has become larger and more
equipped to serve twice as many patients. The expanded program comes
following an affiliation agreement that Beebe Medical Center made in
2004 with Christiana Care Health System to offer open-heart surgeries
at Beebe.
An operational team headed by Donna Streletzky, vice president of
Operations, and Lynn Amey, Director of Cardiovascular Services, has
been meeting regularly over the past year to plan and implement the
programs. Team members represent every key department and function in
the medical center.
"We already have a strong cardiology presence with our staff of
medical cardiologists," Streletzky said. "It was time to take the next
step."
At the award presentation were, Donna Streletzky, Vice President of
Operations at Beebe, cardiologist Dr. Habib Bolourchi, Jeffrey M.
Fried, Beebe President and CEO, cardiologist Dr. Pravin O. Gohel, and
Lynn Amey, Director of Cardiovascular Services for Beebe.
